Baby Boomer Fitness

I have been exercising and keeping fit for 35 years and know that anyone can do it. I started off in my 20's thinking mostly about body building and as I have aged, have done this with aerobic exercise while being increasingly aware of the value of proper nutrition. I can honestly say that fitness has made a major difference in my overall health as well as in my mental outlook and attitude. I want you to know I come from a family with serious hereditary medical conditions.

Why Calorie Counting Doesn't Work

Wake Up and fight Parkinson with Exercize

Parkinson's disease (PD) remains, for the most part, a mystery of medical science. For reasons unknown, certain brain cells stop producing a substance called dopamine. The lack of dopamine affects an individual's movement, strength and balance. PD causes a slow, yet progressive deterioration in function, taking many years to run its course. When the diagnosis of PD is made, you experience a life-altering event. It is not a condition you would desire, but PD does have the capacity to cause you to reassess your priorities and make lifestyle choices that can affect the course of the disease.

How do I get my Messy Wife to do better?

I like to clean up after myself and maintain a tidy house. But my wife doesn't seem to have the same habits. When she gets home, the first thing she does is throw her purse and a book bag on the kitchen table. It sits there all night until she takes it to work the next day and does it all over again. She leaves a mess in the kitchen after breakfast every morning which I end up cleaning up. Dishes and cups are left out all over and never put straight into the dishwasher. The sink ends up piling up and when she cooks, she leaves a mess.

Cancer Cutting the Risks #2

In the next few issues, we will discuss various types of cancers, the classic symptoms associated with each and lifestyle/behavioral changes that may aid in preventing cancer.

In the U.S., only a medical practitioner may diagnose - or name - any disease or disease process. It is not my goal as a professional consultant to diagnose you.

What do I do with my Dad’s Anger

I'm 21, and am 1 of 4 siblings in my family.. My parents got divorced 11 years ago and ever since I could remember, my dad has had an anger problem. He runs a national business, he's very hyperactive, and loves to help people especially financially..

If you met my dad, he appears to be very nice and fun to go out with but you can't let him fool you. He would love to get a chance to help you in any way shape or form to "show off" What he's really doing is kind of setting a trap almost.. He has taken everyone

The Gift of Forgiveness

All that is, and ever has been, is here and now. The past does not exist anymore, it's time has gone. Holding onto the people, places, events and drama of the past is like carrying around another body, a dead body, with you everywhere you go. There is no going back and changing or re-doing anything.

Life, your life, is here and now. To truly live and feel alive, you must be here, in the present moment; here and now. There is no point in reliving the past every day of your life. The Lord wants us to travel light in order to share the light and

Why Should I save Sex for Marriage

When God creates something, He creates it with purpose and design. The Genesis account of creation makes it clear that God's creation is "good" (Genesis 1:31). But mankind has a history of distorting what God has made, whether out of ignorance or just

How Can I stop Smoking

First, congratulate yourself. Just reading this article is a huge step toward becoming tobacco free. Many people don't quit smoking because they think it's too hard to do. They think they'll quit someday.

It's true, for most people quitting isn't easy. After all, the nicotine in cigarettes is a powerfully addictive drug. But with the right approach, you can overcome the cravings.

The Difficulty in Kicking the Habit

Pastoral Care for the Pastor

Who Provides Pastoral Care for the Pastor?

"Pastor, can I stop by your office and talk with you?" Those of us who serve as pastors have all received phone calls that begin with a similar question, and each time we know that we are about to assume the role of a "counselor." It is part of our calling as caring shepherds. We want to help, and we do our best to offer sound Biblical counsel. Sometimes we get to experience the joy of knowing that we have given encouragement to a person
