Good Decisions and Bad Decisions

Our faith and spirit gain strength like the analogy of a "Good Dog" and a "Bad Dog". The one you feed the most gets the strongest. The one you don't feed will become weaker. We need to take an inventory of our own life and decide honestly for ourselves which Dog we are feeding? Is it the Good one or the Bad one?

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak ~ Matthew 26:41. We are all spiritual beings. There are 2 forces that are at war within

Are you Watching?

The term 'lord' has been around for centuries. Traditionally it refers to a person who has authority over others, such as a land owner to those working on his estate, a person of nobility or non-military rank over others. Often the title of 'lord' was inherited from family position and it involved some political responsibilities (House of Lords).

More recently the term 'lord' has become an honorary title signifying some privilege or recognition of societal achievement much like the title

Knowing Him

"OH, GOD…"

If you are like me, you likely hear God or His Son brought into conversations on a daily basis. It is not that people around me are particularly religious; it is just that they like to use their names. Even young children have been taught to use God's name in times of exasperation or amazement. I have lost count how many times while children are over playing on the PS2 that I have heard, "Oh, God" or "Holy ______!" (you can fill in the blank) during

Finishing Well

I have only recently been willing to admit that I am middle-aged. I am still young enough to like having fun and listen to music with a strong beat in it, but old enough to have to prepare for retirement and take care of my body so it will last as long as my mind (assuming my mind holds out too!). When you are in the middle of life you have the ability to look back over the first 45 years and evaluate it to make any necessary course corrections so that the next 40 years will have greater meaning

Who do you Pray To?

When you pray, who do you pray to? Some people teach their children to say bedtime prayers or they say grace over meals. Many said the Lord's Prayer ("Our Father who art in heaven…) years ago in school. We hear prayers over the collection plate at church and often at the beginning and end of worship services. There are books of prayers you can read at your leisure, prayer conferences you can attend, and prayer retreats in which you can spend time in silent meditation and contemplation. But let me ask you again, when you pray who

By Our Love

There's an old Christian camp song recently made popular by Jars of Clay that has the refrain, "They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love, yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love." I wonder who "they" are. Is it my neighbor who watches me from his deck as I drive to church on Sundays? Is it the mechanic who fixes my car
